100% on this. Super hard for the kids and families.
There is an excellent post on another thread listing the number of expected roster slots opening in 2025, by school, for men. I forget who wrote it. I hope he/she writes one about the women, too.
@rolled1 â New Rules Affecting Roster Sizes and Athletic Scholarships - #41 by rolled1 I believe you mean this one?
I really feel for the recent crop of boys and girls. It has kind of been a perfect storm between extra COVID years, players taking off for the Olympics, new roster limits, etc. This has all really created a log jam of talent, especially at the top schools. While verbal commitments have never been binding, I do not remember many being cancelled by the coaches until recently. Hopefully it works it way out sooner rather than later.
Geez, all this thread needed was a little bump.

In water polo itâs not that common to be dropped by any particular college. However, in basketball and football it happens all the time.
It is not common in water polo, but this year is different with the possibility of colleges choosing to opt in on a 24-man roster.
I heard UCLA dropped all 7 of their Freshman commits and took 1 player from Japan now.
Is that because of the new roster limit?
They had 7 freshman commits? I thought they only had 3 (OâHare, Bowman and Jessen)
Senior HS boys talk/chats. Could be wrong. This year is so weird overall.
Donât know where you are hearing that, but it isnât true, ucla is honoring at least 3 of their California commits.
