Great opportunity to watch World Aquatics Men’s U18 Water Polo Championships:
I started watching the USA - Serbia game from today and the first play of the game seemed a bit odd. Judging from the camera angles it looked like the Serbian player who scored the first goal caught the ball with his body practically at the lane line and at most 1 meter in. He received the ball from the 4 spot at about 5 meters. How was it not an inside the 2 call? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills as none of the US coaches even reacted. Looked like a pretty obvious ball under, too, right before he scored. Am I missing something?
The game starts at 1:40:00 and the play is about 30-40 seconds into the start.
There is a continuous red marking on the goal line, 2 meters from the outside of both goal posts. This imaginary line from the end of each red marking to the 2-meter line creates the “goal area”. He was outside of that.
It was a legit a goal unfortunately.
New rule been in play this year. Opens up the offense and presents a nightmare for referees
