Isn’t Newport hosting ?

So what’s international about this? One team?

I heard there is a $5K prize to the winner of each bracket at Quicksilver and 8 games per team over four days! An interesting grind the week before JO’s.

FWiW: SoCal is not in the tournament and I believe Newport is.

Here is a write up I did about the Quiksilver Cup. Included are quotes from coaches about the event, and a link to the website with schedule and pool locations.

During the event, I will also be providing live coverage on Instagram. After the event has concluded, I will be writing more about it and how it went. I will try to include more feedback from coaches players and fans as well.

It looks like the Euro All stars are not on the schedule anymore for 18’s? Any insight on what happened there? I know that Vegas has some international players but are there others now that the Europe team may not be attending?

I don’t have information about that, but I will ask and see what I can find out.

so i hope they had to register as rout 66 because rout 66 who qualified for the classic division for JO’s does not deserve the 5 seed!

There were visa issues for the European players according to the email sent to coaches. As for Route 66’s seeding, it was explained that it was easier for scheduling to give them the European All Star seed. With the way the tournament is set up, seeding isn’t super important as each group plays a round robin regardless.

I guess the other three teams are happy. Now the 12 or 13 seed will end up top 8 without having to beat a tougher team. So I argue it matters. If there was a 2/3 cross I would argue it did not matter as much. Since top two in each bracket are top 8 it should matter. Just sayin, not that it matters to me but is seems like another USAWP shoulder shrug.

Makes me think La Jolla United is somehow involved in back end of this tournament. looking at it more, I think they need to re seed. If I was team Vegas I would much rather play SF than SD shores. If I was Channel islands I would much rather play lamo than 680. So I would say yes seeding is important and the only coach who would say that it is not is la Jolla… Correct me if I am wrong.

Any idea if CT Premier is coming full strength? Seeding seems low given roster and 9th place finish in 2023 JO’s.

Yes, CT Premier’s Junior Olympics team will participate in the Quicksilver International Cup. CT Premier should be seeded higher.

Looks like you got what you were looking for exactly as those matchups seemed to have changed now.

LAMO and SF seedings should be swapped with 680 and SD Shores.

why is that? it is a snake seeding so you are saying lamo and SF should be seeded higher than shores and 680?

I am glad they changed their minds and went with doing it the right way vs the lazy way. kudos to whoever is in charge.

Ah makes sense. I thought they had LAMO and SF higher. Much better.
