Yes looking forward to watching some early season polo down here! Should be interesting to see how teams look?

Watched Fordham-Brown. Rams won 22-15. Took a 6-0 first quarter lead and showed some nice depth as 13 players scored. Lercari was fantastic in his three quarters of action as he blocked three five meter penalties.

Harvard-Cal Baptist is on right now and this is a nice evenly matched game.

Harvard over Cal Baptist 11-10. Great game. Crimson were down 5-2 in the 1st and played well to come back for the win.

UCLA starts the season with a 13-7 win over UCSB. Santa Barbara didn’t look the best, It appears that UCLA star’s Mo Kenney and Chase Dodd didn’t play for the Bruins

Fordham over Cal Baptist 23-12. Kudos to the Harvard women’s player who called the game by herself.

Mo Kenney played, but Chase did not.

Anyone watch Cal vs UCI? 14 goals is not a good sign for Berkeleys defense regardless if this is their first game of the season

Pacific beat Harvard by 1 this morning, 15-14. Was able to watch the entire game on ESPN+.

Haven’t been super impressed by Pacific from this first weekend. Too many exclusions against a Harvard team that scraped by CBU. Defensively, they let in a high number of goals from the perimeter and I wasn’t super impressed by Fountain, who didn’t look his usual self today.

Next week’s game against Princeton will be great to watch

First big upset of the season.

Pepperdine over Cal 21-20 in sudden death overtime. You would’ve never heard of Cal giving up 20+ goals when Weinberg was there…

Pepperdine has given Cal fits in recent years. Great win. Remember, Cal was a different team when Papa was injured last year.

Freshman Jaxon Leach was fantastic in goal for Pepperdine.

Giving up 20 goals is a a lot, but I was not at the game, so maybe Cal would have had 25 or 30 if Pepperdine’s goalie had not played so well.

Weinberg gave up 17 or 18 goals to Stanford one game last year, but I can’t remember the last time that they gave up 20. That does not not bode well for Cal this year.

Well it was double overtime and I think 90% of Cal goals were 5 on 6 or 5 meters. The exclusion count was off the charts.

So on the men’s side, the sport’s 3-time NCAA champion - whose goalie went on to become the best goalie in the Olympic games, winning Bronze - is upset in a fantastic shootout overtime game by a program with a new coach (himself a former Olympic goalie)…and there’s zero streaming, zero clips from USA water polo or the NCAA, and just a tiny amount of press? Welcome to water polo. When a tree falls in a forest…

Women’s regular season volleyball is now airing in prime time. The new CEO must help raise the sport to minimum coverage you’d find in middle school lacrosse.

Tons of spectators this weekend and likely good money raised through ticket sales for UCSDs program which is also important for the sport.

Every program filmed every game so the intel gathering in the first week of competition is partially the reason it’s not streamed (?)

I can’t imagine another NCAA D1 sport saying they didn’t provide a stream due to “intel gathering” in this day and age.

yeah, only speculating there. I too agree it would be great to watch the games on an ESPN+ or other format.

Great start by my Bruins! And the newbies had huge weekends- Ryder Dodd, Brinkema, Castillo, and Voggenthaler.

Mr. Everist missed the boat. He will fall to #5. Miss the tourney… he had goalie opportunities in the portal. Was a fool and thought they would kiss the ring.
I see UCLA, STANFORD, UOP, USC
There really is no one else.
UCLA because they have more hunger
STANFORD really should beat them but Flacks will find a way to lose.
UOP is a dark horse here. They planned for this year with their Eurostars and could come up with a style of play and chemistry that is hard to handle.
USC has depth in the field and coaching.
The big disappointment with the rest is goalie weakness.
CAL being an example of no clue. Why did Kirk not deal with this weakness? There were goalies in the portal. Know fact. It seems that these D1 coaches are accepting of mediocrity. Or just do not have a goalie coach or consultant worth dick.
