Pick 15: Albert Ponferrada, Senior, LH Attacker, Cal

Pick 22: Nico Tierney, Senior, CD, UCLA

pick 2. Ryder Dodd - Attacker - UCLA

pick 11. Stefan Brankovic - USC - Utility

pick 14. Patrik Kolak - Attacker - Cal

pick 23. Ethan Parrish - Attacker - Stanford

H2Opolo10 asked me to post his next two picks.

  1. JP Ohl, LH attacker, Princeton
  2. Jack Martin, LH center, USC

Oldschoolpolofan is on the clock, followed by sbwp and Rb.

pick 2. Ryder Dodd - Attacker - UCLA

pick 11. Stefan Brankovic - USC - Utility

pick 14. Patrik Kolak - Attacker - Cal

pick 23. Ethan Parrish - Attacker - Stanford

pick 26. Vladan Mitrovic - 2MD - Princeton

Vladan is a two-time All-American and will add size and experience to our team. Will be critical to Princeton’s potential run to the final four.

sbwp asked me to post his next pick:

  1. Tanner Pulice, RH attacker, Stanford

Rb is on the clock, followed by retiredguy and me.

Rb asked me to post his next pick:

Zach Bettino, LH attacker, USC

retiredguy is on the clock, followed by me with two picks.

  1. Matthew Hosmer — attacker Pacific

Team 6: Last but not least

  1. Jackson Painter, LH attacker, Stanford. A well-balanced team needs a LH attacker and there aren’t enough good ones in the United States. A very tough choice between Painter and Ben Liechty. They both have a chance to make the 2028 Olympic team. I chose Painter, a 5th-year college player, because he has more college experience than Liechty and will be featured more prominently in Stanford’s offense than Liechty will be in UCLA’s. Painter, an underrated defensive player, is also faster. Painter was a 1st team All-American in 2022 and a 2nd team All-American in 2023.

  2. Max Miller, center, USC. As sbwp notes above, there aren’t a lot of good centers to choose from and I don’t pick again until the last pick in the third round. Miller, another 5th-year player, has improved every year he’s been at USC. He waa a 1st team All-American last year. Miller and Painter will work well together.

(18.) Ben Liechty, LH attacker, UCLA. That’s a pretty good 4/5 side with Painter and Liechty. Liechty was UCLA’s second-leading scorer last year as a freshman. He has excellent size and post-up skills. He was an honorable mention All-American last season. He is a 2x CIF Southern Section player of the year and a potential 2028 Olympian.

(19.) Riley Pittman, attacker, Stanford. Pittman, another 5th-year college player, joins his Stanford teammate, Jackson Painter, on my team. Pittman was a 2nd team All-American in 2023 and led Stanford in goals and assists.

  1. Carson Kranz, attacker, USC. I’ve been a fan of Kranz’s game since his days at Loyola. Kranz, another 5th-year player, was a 2nd team All-American in 2023.

  2. Luka Brnetic, center defender, USC. As a 6’7" senior, Brnetic has good length and three years of college experience. He will be USC’s starting center defender and was 2nd team All-MPSF last season. I considered taking one of UCLA’s center defenders but it’s hard to know which one or ones will receive significant playing time.

retiredguy is on the clock, followed by Rb and sbwp.

I considered taking one of UCLA’s center defenders but it’s hard to know which one or ones will receive significant playing time.

(42.) Bernardo Herzer, goalie, USC. Herzer, 6’6”, started for USC last year as a redshirt freshman and should be the starter again this year. He was an honorable mention All-American and 2nd team All-MPSF in 2023.

  1. Kirk Everist, coach, Cal. Everist has quietly won six NCAA championships as a coach, including the last three. Only Cutino, Dettamanti, and Vavic have won more. Everist is sometimes criticized, unfairly in my opinion, for his technical expertise and not following a script but his record speaks for itself. Moreover, most players enjoy playing for Everist and they have fun doing so. I wish there were more coaches like him.

To keep the draft moving, I will make my predictions and comment on our draft after H2Opolo10 makes his final selection.
